Address Verification Service (AVS)

Address Verification Service is one of the most common methods of preventing online payment fraud. It is a solution that compares the billing address entered by the cardholder with the address stored at the issuing bank.

After verification, the service sends a response code to the merchant, which indicates whether the address matches or not.

Although the system is widespread, it cannot fully guarantee the security of payment. These addresses may not match. The cardholder could have made a mistake when entering the address or changed their place of residence. The service is widely used among such countries as the USA, Great Britain, Canada.
